He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Frederick Hobson Sr., Fred and Edith Goodall; his aunt Beverly Thomas; and his uncle Perry Coleman.

He is survived by : his grandchildren, Michael, Sr. and Shirley Hobson; his son Michael Hobson III; his parents, Michael Sr. Hobson and Shirley Hobson; his grandmother Alberta Hobson; his uncles, Frederick Hobson Jr. and Albert Hobson; and his aunt Freda Creekmore.
