He was predeceased by: his parents, William Haywood Hughes Sr. and Mary Moore Hughes (Sherry Ann Hughes); his brother Paul Hughes; his daughter-in-law Jackie Hughes; and his granddaughter Kendal Tharpe.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Darren Singleton (Lindsay), Travis Davis, Crystal Singleton, Leslie Smith and Priscilla Gill; his great grandchild S. J. Hatcher; his siblings, John Arthur Hughes (Louie), Mary Ann Winslow and Margaret Ann Edwards (Jimmy); his daughter Pamela; his caregiver Tanya McFail; Connie Harris, Carie Davis (Robert), Pamela Lasher, William Haywood Hughes III, Shelby Tharpe (Tim) and Shelly Smith (Henry).
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church (9040 Trottinridge Rd, Chase City, VA 23924).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery fund, 9040 Trottinridge Rd. Chase City, Va. 23924.
