He was predeceased by: his parent Horace Nichols; and his brother Robert. He is survived by: his parent Marna Nichols; his wife Jane; his children, Patrick (Tammy) and Annie Wray (Nathan); his grandchildren, Cameron and Charleigh; and his siblings, Edward, William, Gary, Gregory, Marjorie, Darlene and Lorrie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
