He is survived by: his parent Grace Cale Bateman; his spouse Margaret Whitmer Bateman; his daughter Elizabeth Grace Bateman of Virginia Beach; his brothers, Durward F. Bateman (Shirley) of Raleigh and David T. Bateman (Fay) of Tyner; his grandchildren, Emily Grace, Aubrey Grace and Nathan Joshua; and also Robert Williams of Virginia Beach.
