He was predeceased by: his parents, James Whitfield and Gertrude Whitfield; his wife Carol D. Whitfield; and his brother Donald Whitfield. He is survived by: his sons, Mark Whitfield (Kathy) and James A. Whitfield Jr. (Sherri-Lyn); his grandchildren, Sarah Whitfield, Brandon Whitfield and Trenton Whitfield; and his sister Phyllis English (Steve).
In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to be made to Great Bridge United Methodist Church marked endowment fund.
