She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Cowell and Beanie Cowell; and her husband Ronald Newman. She is survived by: her children, John Newman, Sr. (Cathy), Sammi Jo Bradshaw and Jackie Anselm (Jeric); her stepchildren, Jim Newman (Cheryl) and Carie Woodstock-Newman; her siblings, Sheri Van De Maat (Randy), Becky Thatcher (Ken), John Cowell (Sue), Audrey Bennett (Rick), Kenny Cowell (Sandy) and Beth Miller (Barry); her grandchildren, Jacksyn Anselm, Jaysen Anselm, Cailin Newman, Emily Newman, John Newman, Jr., Kristina Daniels, Samuel Newman and Kevin Means (Sarah); her great grandchild Veranda Kuhar; and also, Morgan Woodstock, Matt Newman (Katelyn), Nathan Newman and Nichole O'Connor. She is also survived by her children; and by her many nieces and nephews and their children.
In lieu of a service or flowers, memorial monetary donations can be made in Karen's name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. or any other Breast Cancer Foundation or Charity.
