He is survived by : his wife Wanda J. Thornton; his children, Roxanne Thornton Bowman (Skip), Cheryl Byrd Merritt (Steve), John Neal Thornton and Donnie Ray Thornton; his nephew James Binder; and his grandchildren, Tara Mather, Jillian Merritt, Noah Merritt, Lehia Hamilton and Katie Fitzgerald.
