She was predeceased by: her husband Donald Ray Thornton; and her daughter Audrey Leigh Howard. She is survived by: her daughter Cheryl Merritt (Steven) of Virginia Beach, VA; her stepchildren, Roxanne Bowman (Skip) of Chincoteague, VA, John Neal Thornton of Chincoteague, VA and Donnie Thornton of Chincoteague, VA; her grandchildren, Jillian Merritt of Virginia Beach, VA and Noah Merritt (Rachel) of Lago Vista, TX; and her stepchildren, Leigha Hamilton of Hampton, VA and Katie Fitzgerald (Jimmy) of Newport News, VA. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
