She was predeceased by : her parents, John Gilmer and Audrey Hiner Hevener; her husband Harry F. Tishman of Richmond; her sister Mary Katherine Blake (Katie); her aunts, Eva and Rachel Klinkhamer; her uncle Walter Carper; her cousins, Patricia Ann Klinkhamer and Linda Klinkhamer Mackall; and her nephew John Christopher Blake.
She is survived by : her children, Terri T. Tishman (John Layman) of Riner and Phillip John Tishman of Roanoke; her grandchildren, Max Montgomery Layman, Dexter Gilmer Layman, Hayleigh Ellen Tishman and Harriet Josephine Tishman; her siblings, Johnnie Grace Johnson (Ronald) of Franklin County, VA and Marvin G. Hevener (Patricia Garst) of Spartanburg; her cousins, Sandra Carper Jones (Linwood) and Dick Carper; her nieces and nephews, Tanya Johnson Hoy (Brian), Rebecca Johnson Baunsgard (Andrew), Chuck Blake (Sherri), Andrew Hevener (Brooke) and David Hevener; and her great-nephews, Nicholas, Eric, Ian Hoy, Gavin and Rory Baunsgard.
It was Ellen's desire to donate her body for science to the state.
