He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham Simmons and Gertrude Simmons; his sons, Edward Simmons and Charles A. "Ikey" Simmons; and his siblings, Hazel Piscunare, Dorothy Myers, Patricia Griner, Mary Capalby, Frances Bober, Bernice Deisher, Phyllis Huffman, Homer Simmons and Abraham Jonathan "A. J.".
He is survived by: his wife Mary Miller Simmons of Clifton Forge; his grandchildren, Rachel Simmons and Aaron Simmons of Millboro; his siblings, Donald Simmons (Robin) of Eagle Rock, Bobby D. Simmons (Linda) of Covington and Alice Wilkinson of Lynchburg; his nephews, Mike Simmons of Clifton Forge and Aaron Simmons of Clifton Forge; and his granddaughter Amy Young of Eagle Rock. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Due to the pandemic, a virtual memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 4:00 PM from the First Assembly of God Church, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Teddy Joe Bias officiating.
