He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Wakefield Wham and Eula Gantt Wham; his wife Marcia Ann Hambrick Wham; and his sister Laura Helen Wham. He is survived by: his siblings, Eula Castor (Richard) of Kingsport, TN, Russell W. Wham of Easley, SC and Barry White (Cheryl) of Greenville, SC; his brother-in-law Reverend Mark Hambrick (Devona) of Roanoke; his siblings' children, Kristina Castor of Westerville, OH, Ashley Cantrill-Mosely of Kingsport, TN, Ellen Armstrong (Kent) of Knoxville, TN, Amy Young (Tim) of Roanoke, Lori Rowsey (Allen) of Bath County and Brian Russell Wham of Greenville, SC; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Stephanie Sturbois, Jessica Melton, Jordan Melton, Avery Armstrong, Sarah Young, Kyleigh Wham, Aurora Wham, Lilah Rowsey, Kyle Sturbois, Joshua Cantrill, Ryder Armstrong, Blaine Wham and Jacob Young. He is also survived by cousins and many close friends.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association or to the Polio Association.
