It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Powell-McDaniel (Clifton Forge, Virginia), who passed away on June 8, 2020, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Holman Nelson and Anna Smith Nelson of Virginia; her former husband Howard Lucas "Buddy" Powell; her husband Loyd Arthur McDaniel; her grandson Christopher Allen Hickman; and her siblings, Lawrence "Bones" Nelson, Margaret Russell and Ellen Healy.
She is survived by: her daughter Gayle Hickman (David) of Richmond; her adoptive daughter Ellen Thompson Essex of Hot Springs; and her granddaughter Courtney Elizabeth Leaman (Tyler) of Richmond. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, PO Box 637, Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422 and to the American Heart Association, Mid Atlantic Affiliate, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060.
