Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Carl Eugene McKinney Jr. of Concord, Virginia, who passed away at the age of 75, on October 27, 2025. As Carl departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Carl may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Carl leaves behind.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Mattie Pearl Witt; his wife Christine Ward McKinney; his daughter Cindy Dooley; his brothers, Paul McKinney (Angela) and William G. Hanes; his grandsons, Travis Thornton (Abbie) and Preston Dooley; and his great grandchildren, Easton Thornton and Knox Thornton. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Whitten Timberlake Chapel (7404 Timberlake Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24502). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Olivet Church Cemetery.
