Freda Elfred Raco Gilmore Obituary
Freda E. Gilmore, 93, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1991, at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Covington, Va.
Born on Apr. 16, 1898, in Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late William and Nellie (Gaiter) Spillard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Mervin Gilmore, in 1963; one son, Henry Gilmore; three daughters, Viola Redman, Beulah Crites and Doris Walker; two brothers, Wilbert Spillard and Maynard Spillard, and six sisters, Ida Spillard, Anna Beckwith, Edna Spillard, Pauline Moats, Rosie Washington and Unice Spillard.
Mrs. Gilmore was a Homemaker, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was a member of the Petersburg Church of God. Mrs. Gilmore was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are three daughters, Jane Redman, of Petersburg; Hossana Barnes, of New York, and Nellie Redmon, of Moorefield; 24 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
The Schaffer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends will be received there Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Petersburg Church of God by the Rev. Charles Duncan.
Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.
