It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Franklin Smiley Jr. of Craigsville, Virginia, born in Staunton, Virginia, who passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age of 49, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his mother Constance Diane "Connie" Smiley (May); and his grandparents, James "Jimmy" Cleveland, Ruth Ellen May (Campbell), Herman and Shirley Smiley (Ford).

He is survived by : his father John Franklin Smiley, Sr.; his daughter Raven Wood (Jacob Coley) of Lynchburg; his brother Philip Craig Smiley (Kimberly) of Roanoke; his grandchildren, Ashton and Jaxson Coley; and his friend Betty Price of Staunton.
