She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Birnie Elizabeth Helmick Strawderman; her husband Earl Gilbert Dodson; and her children, Russell Dodson (Mollie) of Clear Brook, Lee Dodson of Cross Junction, Wayne Dodson (Judy) of Stephens City and Alice Virginia Chavez. She was also cherished by seven grandchildren.
