She was predeceased by : her parents, George Amos Johnston and Lucille Smith Johnston; and her sisters, Virginia Thornhill and Eva Karnes. She is survived by : her children, Kenneth Lee Payne (Susie) of Culpeper, Janet Payne O'Keefe of Pawleys Island, SC and Jean Payne Martin of Catlett; and her grandchildren, Thomas Lee Payne, Shannon Saulter (Chris), W. K. Jones (Tabatha) and Gregory Martin (Kaiulani). She is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
