He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Lee and Nellie Frances Rice Mahaley. He is survived by : his brother George Lee Mahaley; his sister-in-law Janet Lynch Griffith (Whitney); his nieces, Cynthia Mahaley Sigmon Courtney (Tommy), Allyson Griffith Forman (Ben) and Lindsay Griffith Evers (Tommy); and his nephew George Lee Mahaley, Jr. (Tonya).

Visitation was held on Friday, May 31st 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel (5858 Riverside Dr, Danville, VA 24541). A memorial service was held on Friday, May 31st 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
