She was predeceased by : her parents, Mark Garland and Sallie Harper Garland; her spouse Governor Sherman Jr.; her son Governor Sherman III; her stepson Jerome Sherman Sr.; and her siblings, Ola Mae Gwynn, Gracie Gunn, Myrtle Frazier, Louise Davis, Wilbert Garland, Edward Garland, Matthew Garland and Samuel Garland (Henry Garland).

She is survived by : her stepdaughter Carol Sherman of Ringgold, VA. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
