She was predeceased by : her parents, Roy Hyzen and Annie Myers Shiflet; her spouse Riley Vaden Smith; her siblings, Charles, Linwood, Glen, Rodney, Roy Wayne Shiflet, Donna Hartman, Frances Yannul, June Counts and Louise Ritchie; and her daughter-in-law Sharon Smith.

She is survived by : her children, Gareth "Abe" Smith of Weyers Cave, S. Dale Smith (Phyllis) of Mt. Solon, Dennis Leigh Smith (Penny) of Dayton, Cheryl Smith Payne (Stanley) of Rockingham and Karen Smith Snyder (Carl) of Dayton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
