It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alice Brickell Sykes (Emporia, Virginia), who passed away on May 2, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis H. Brickell and Mary E. Miles Brickell; her husband Dana Weaver Sykes; her daughter Barbara Sykes Stroud (Eugene); and her siblings, Eugenia Tillery, Carol Crowder and Fletcher Brickell.
She is survived by: her daughter Wanda Sykes Wilson; her siblings, Elsie Porch, Nora Wilson "Jerry", Betty Stroud, Shirley Blunt "Buddy", Charlotte Brickell and Charles Brickell; her grandchildren, Dana Dawn Coggsdale, Eric Coggsdale, Mary Alice Banner and Brian W. Stroud; her great grandchildren, Jackson Coggsdale, Elizabeth Russell, Kandie Hicks, Kiersten Banner, Brantley Stroud and Paisley Stroud; and her great great grandchild Abigail Coggsdale. She is also survived by numerous nieces/nephews and friends.
