He was predeceased by: his parents, Allie Ashby and Stella Presgraves Payne; his wife Martha Garner Payne; and his grandson Brian Payne. He is survived by: his sons, Steve Payne, Robert Payne (Patti) and Jerry Payne (Mary); and his stepdaughter Martha Conrad. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.
