She is survived by : her close friend James Johnson; her children, Leslie Shelton (David), Anthony Carter (Regina Ennis) and Calvin Carter; her siblings, Michael Carter, Linda Carter, Betty Carter, Diane Carter, Ruby Carter, Barbara Carter and Francine Carter; and her friend Dwain Jackson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
