He was predeceased by: his parents, John Griffith and Susan Griffith (Cox); his children, Jeff Griffith and Debra Carter; and his siblings, Frances Powers and Thomas Griffith.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Heflin; his daughters, Edith Cheeseman (Ken) of Modesto, CA, Ellen Sandy (David) of Stephens City, VA and DeLena Mabus (William) of Aiken, SC; his grandchildren, Brynn, Jeremy (Susan), Jamie (Rickey), David, Jr. (Kayla), Michale (James), Jessica (Jay), Jonathan (Ashleigh), Megan (Tango), Amy (Robert) and Chris (Wendy); his sisters, Marie Yarbough (Eddie) of Nokesville, VA and Virginia Hillen (Sam) of Pittsburgh, PA; and his sisters-in-law, Betty and Margie.
