He was predeceased by: his parents, David Nelson Gruver and Thelma L. Gruver of Reliance; his brother David Gruver; his grandson Colton Gruver; and his great-nephew Tristen Brinklow.

He is survived by: his son Bobby Gruver of Reliance; his friend Dawn Ferris of Reliance; and his niece Jennifer Brinklow of Front Royal. He is also survived by father and son.
