She was predeceased by: her parents, Newton Hammonds and Virgie Hammonds (McDavid); her husband James Spivey; her siblings, Nannie Jones, Lizzie Tipton, Lula Jennings, Bradley, Odell, Johnny, Bill, Ray, Jim, Bob and Ben Hammonds; and her grandchildren, Chad Spivey, Kara Spivey and Chasity Gregg.
She is survived by: her sons, Larry Spivey and Dan Spivey (Debbie); her grandchildren, Mick Spivey, Zeke Spivey, Isaiah Spivey, Jake Spivey, Lori Bailey and Danielle Spivey; and her siblings, Shirley Tipton and Gene Hammonds. She is also survived by her eleven great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Gate City Funeral Home (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Newt Hammonds Cemetery.
