He was predeceased by: his father Robert McConnell; and his sister Barbara Graham. He is survived by: his close friend Dawn Stewart; his daughter Sydnee Mellons; his stepdaughter Haley Stewart; and his niece Kelli Dean. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
