He was predeceased by : his parents, Promise Percy Pruitt and Flossie Craighead Pruitt; and his wife Ellen J. Pruitt. He is survived by : his children, Lynn Pruitt, Donna Beckner (Wayne), Michael Todd Pruitt (Rhonda) and Eddie Pruitt; his grandchildren, Tracie Radford, Joey Pruitt (Michelle), Travis Pruitt, Savannah Spicer (David), Nicole Pruitt and Michon; his sister Virginia Meador; and his close friend Little Tucker. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
