He was predeceased by : his wife Rebecca Carter Shreves; his parents, Phyllis Stead Shreves and Raymond Shreves; his grandson Christian Placer; his daughter Michelle Shreves; his brother William "Bill" Shreves; and his pets, Beaver and Sam.

He is survived by : his children, Melissa Freeze (Tony) of Glade Hill, David Biggs of Cherokee, Debbie Adkins Foley of Snow Creek, Crystal Naff (Michael) of Callaway, Jenny Flora (Andy) of Rocky Mount and Bethany Moore (John) of Staunton; his grandchildren, Mandy Placer (Ben), Jamey Mathis, Mikey Mathis, Roxanne McManamay, Workman, Ridge Adkins, Rachael Naff, Lauren Naff, Jacob Flora, Hannah Harris and Sara Moore; and his siblings, Donna Jo Higginbotham (Charles) of Parkersburg, WV, Cindy Carson (Tom) of Sistersville, WV and Kim Maxwell (Wayne) of Friendly, WV. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers (or "junk" as Junior called them), donations can be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital, Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, or any local sports team.
