He was predeceased by: his parents, Thad Cowan and Lucille Campbell Cowan; and his brothers, Henry Cowan and Norman Cowan. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Taylor Cowan; his daughters, Miranda Cowan, Keesha Cowan Thompson (Adam) and Barbara Cowan; his grandchildren, Zachary Thompson, Elijah Thompson, Marcus South and Makhala Cowan; and his siblings, Clayton Cowan (Betty) and Catherine Colins. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
