He is survived by: his wife Garnett Basta Harwood; his children, Elizabeth Bristow (Jamie) and John Hughes Harwood, III; his grandchildren, Leanna Bristow and Erin Bristow; his great grandchild Abilene Davis; his brothers, Robert Harwood and Stuart Harwood; and his stepchildren, Gwen Thomassen (Paul), Scott Basta (Samantha) and Duane Basta (Lisa). He is also survived by many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
