With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Nellie Barker Pickral of Gretna, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 9, 2025 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by: her parents, Berkley Dewey Barker and Emma Howell Barker; her children, Glen Allen Pickral, Martha Jane Pickral and Cynthia Melton; and her siblings, Curtis Barker, Robert Barker, Virginia Brumfield, Juanita Franklin, Betty Hines, Hilda Wilson, Martha Doss, Trula Clark and Frances Barker.
She is survived by: her husband Oscar Donald Pickral; her daughter Connie Adkins (Johnny) of Gretna; her sisters, Elaine Clark of Martinsville and Carolyn Goad (Ralph) of Gretna; and her son-in-law J. W. Melton. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Colbert-Moran Funeral Home (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Colbert-Moran Chapel (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557). A burial will be held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 at the Gretna Burial Park North Main.
