He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Benton McClanahan and Berchie Hackney McClanahan; and his brother Charles Paul McClanahan. He is survived by: his wife Linda Lou Harris McClanahan; his stepson Scott Burress (Kristi); his stepgrandchildren, Jett and Revv Burress of Seattle, WA; his stepdaughter Christy Smiley (Jeff) of Columbus, OH; and his siblings, Danny McClanahan (Rhonda) of Grundy, Kenny McClanahan (LuAnne) of Grundy, Sue McElyea (Ken) of Avon, IN and Rebecca Smith (Tom) of Glen Allen, VA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Buchanan County Humane Society.
