He is survived by: his wife Jeany DeVilla Murphy; his stepson Joel Philip Byrd; his sons, Eddie Murphy of Long Beach and John Murphy of Texas; his grandchildren, Kathy and Tyler Murphy; his brother William Murphy; and his sister-in-law Julie P. Murphy.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Nelsen Funeral Home (3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188). A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Saint Bede Catholic Church (3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Williamsburg Memorial Park Cemetery (130 King William Dr, Williamsburg, VA 23188).
