He is survived by: his wife Kathy Farmer Bates; his children, Sharon Bates Sale and Christopher L. Bates; his grandchildren, Taylor Sale Bowens (Devin) and Chandler Bates; his great grandchild Harper Rose Bowens; his uncle Charles "Sonny"; his aunt Cruz Atkinson; his cousin Cathy Sprouse; his siblings-in-law, David Farmer (Sandy), Timothy Farmer and Ruth Farmer (Chuck); and also Justen Harris.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Nelsen Funeral Home (4650 S Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Clifton LaRoy Bates, 83, of Highland Springs, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2025, after a battle with Parkinson's and Dementia.
