He was predeceased by : his parents, Elkanah Compton and Cora Taylor Compton; his siblings, Herbert Compton, Edward Compton, Eugene Compton, Betty Hale and Margaret Fletcher; and his son-in-law Joe Street.
He is survived by : his wife Irene Fletcher Compton; his daughters, Jane Street of Newport News and Rebecca Ferrell (Michael) of Abingdon; his grandchildren, Joseph Street (Noel), Cora Hite (Charles), Sarah Souter (Tom) and Spencer Ferrell (Meghin); his great grandchildren, J. C. Street, Laina Street, Lucy Hite, Owen Souter and Reid Souter; and his caregivers, Betsy, Paula, Chaplain, Tim, Linda and Lora. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
