He is survived by: his wife Shirley Shaw Shands; his son Antoine Shands (Nicole); his grandsons, Joshua A. Shands of Henrico County, VA. and Jaylen N. Shands of Henrico County, VA.; his siblings, Willie Shands of Hopewell, VA, Harold Shands of Hopewell, VA, Tyrone Shands (Sandra) of Hopewell, VA, Alice Shands, Brenda Carter (Melvin) of Dinwiddie, VA, Francine Tatum (Joseph) of Newport News, VA and Darlene Shands of Raleigh, NC; his siblings-in-law, Bertha Mason of Petersburg, VA, Carolyn Shands of Petersburg, VA, Jean Shands of Hopewell, VA, Jerlene Pierce (Walter), Horace Shaw, James Shaw and Clifford Shaw (Helen); and his aunt Dorothy Walden of Pittsburgh, PA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
