He is survived by: his children, Albert Ashwell (Jessica), Martha Ashwell and Lewis Ashwell (Laura); his grandchildren, Colton Ashwell, Madison Ashwell, Hunter Ashwell, James Karnes, Naomi Bland, Jewell Chambers, Jr., Melissa C. Wetherhold, David Newman, Jr. and James Newman; and his stepsiblings, Helen Chambers (Jewell) and David Newman (Sharon). He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
