It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorcas Irene Fender Halsey (Independence, Virginia), who passed away on May 11, 2020, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Mallie Farmer Fender and Grover Cleveland Fender; her siblings, Paul, Samuel, Ivan, Rose, Virgie, Catherine and Irene; her spouse Bays Merton Halsey of Fox Creek; her son Thomas Bays Halsey of Independence; and her daughter-in-law Elaine Rita Holeton of Independence. She was also cherished by friends and acquaintances and her extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, in honor of Irene Fender Halsey.
