He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Born Bracken (Born); and his brother Douglas Bracken. He is survived by: his children, Clay (Trish), Susan Harris (Harry), John (Anna) and Thomas (Kim); and his grandchildren, Natalie, Tyler, Jack, Sofi, Paco, Nate, Dylan, Ryan and Rafa.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the St. James Episcopal Church (14 Cornwall St NW, Leesburg, VA 20176).
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Public Broadcasting System (PBS) or the National Audubon Society.
