He was predeceased by: his parents, William Phelps and Ethel Phelps; and his granddaughters, Marcia Jac Phelps and Marlena Alma Hodges. He is survived by: his wife Edeltraut Phelps; his children, Delmus Phelps (Veronica), Paul Phelps (Suzanne), Jac Phelps (Betty) and Carlos Louise Brooks (Mark); and his grandchildren, Daniel D. Phelps (Caitlin Roth), Alexander Phelps (Fernanda), Dr. Benjamin Phelps (Morgan), Stefan Phelps (Sydney), Eleni Silva (Pedro), Kieran Phelps (Gigi Guerrero), Jason Phelps (Missy), Jonathan Phelps (Lizzy), Megan Hollopeter (Aaron), Christa Goulet Campo, Jessica Phelps, Joshua Knight (Audrey), Zachary Knight (Asha), Peyton Knight and Nicholas Knight.

“I worked with Delmus for many years in the post office . Delmus was assigned to the longest walking route out of the Miller Park station. He never asked for help or overtime. He was an outstanding employee ,a real pleasure to work with. After retirement my wife and I met Delmus and Edeltraut at the Kroger store .We spent lots of time in talking old times. We miss the times we spent with them. Delmus will never be forgotten. L.G. Jim Woody”
