He was predeceased by: his wife Gloria Alice Kane Young; and his parents, Lowell Young and Gladys Read Young. He is survived by: his children, Joseph (Beth Young), Robert (Debbie Young), Mark (Lynn Young) and Paula (Robb Egel). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Elwood's love and devotion to Gloria were especially evident as he lovingly cared for her during her journey with Alzheimer's.
