He was predeceased by : his parents, Layden Wood, Sr. and Lucille Carr Wood; and his wife Angie. He is survived by : his children, L. B. Wood, III (Rosie), Jeffrey Wood (Brenda) and Larry Wood (Lisa); his siblings, Alfred Wood (Patsy), Sharon Gault and Isaac Wood; and his close friend Joycelyn Arthur. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in his memory.
