She was predeceased by: her parents, John Otey and Ruby Gray Blankenship; and her siblings, John William Blankenship, Carl Blankenship, Ray Blankenship and Phylis Blankenship Bruffy.
She is survived by: her son Samuel Wayne "Chip" Staples, Jr. (Nicole); her brothers, Frank Blankenship and Donald Blankenship; and her grandchildren, Haden Staples, Riley Staples, Taylor Longwell, Madeline Martin and Emma Verbeke. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Tharp Funeral Home (220 Breezewood Dr, Lynchburg, VA 24502). A celebration of life was held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Indian Hill Methodist Church (2278 Oxford Furnace Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24504).
