She was predeceased by : her parents, Johnson Martin Slate and Susie Hazel Dean Slate; her husband Norlen Clinton Yelton, Sr.; her brother Kenneth McCoy Slate of Eatonton, Georgia; and her son-in-law Chaplain Thomas J. Harvin of Charlotte.
She is survived by : her children, Norlen Clinton Yelton, Jr. of Max Meadows, Virginia, Teresa Geraldine Yelton Harvin of Charlotte, Cheryl Rena Yelton Watson of Max Meadows and Vanessa Elaine Yelton Scruggs (Charles Scruggs) of Max Meadows, Virginia; her sisters, Pansy Hundley and Carolyn Williams (Clinton); her sister-in-law Joyce VanMeter Slate; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Patton, II (Luz), Israel Harvin (Aisha), Anthony Watson (Laura), Bryan Scruggs, Jonathan Scruggs (Eden), Tyler Yelton (Sarah), Jessica Morris (Jason) and Christi Scruggs; and her great grandchildren, Boone Patton, Nevaeh Johnson, Major Harvin, Bailey, Siler Watson, Grey Morris and Brennan Yelton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
