He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Sr. Butler and Rebecca Irene Hammer Butler; and his wife Louise Belle Whetzel. He is survived by: his sons, Tracy Butler (Hannah Shepherd) of Afton and Michael Butler (Rachel) of Harrisonburg; and his grandchildren, Sagan Butler, Dylan Butler, Vale Butler and Zinnia Butler.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kyger Funeral Home - Harrisonburg (3173 Spotswood Trail, Harrisonburg, VA 22801). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
