She was predeceased by : her parents, George Bunn and Faustine Bunn; and her husband Blake Avery. She is survived by : her son Samuel Bunn Avery; her daughter-in-law Molly Snyder Avery of Newport News, VA; her grandchildren, Dr. Mary Blake Avery of Kitty Hawk, NC and Robert Earl Avery of Arlington, VA; and her close friends, Sara Crippen, Marlene Ferri, Page Roberts and Pat Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Denbigh United Presbyterian Church (302 Denbigh Blvd, Newport News, VA 23608). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Pineview Cemetery (761 E Raleigh Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27803).
