It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Buford William Cyphers Jr. (Newport News, Virginia), who passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Buford Cyphers Sr. and Ola May Cyphers; his children, Cynthia Cay Cyphers and Paul David Cyphers; and his brother Robert Cyphers.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Stephenson Peters; his daughters, Leann Dextradeur (Leon) of Virginia Beach, VA and Sarah Ann Cyphers of Williamsburg, VA; his stepdaughter Catherine Holloway (Jerry) of Suffolk, VA.; and his grandchildren, Jordan Carroll (Micah) of Waynesville, Jaclyn Baker (Tyler) of Charlotte, NC, Dillion Dextradeur (Sidney) of Virginia Beach, VA, Marcus Holloway of Suffolk, VA and Tiffany Burse of Newport News, VA. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, an aunt, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Orcutt Baptist Church (653 Baxter Ln, Newport News, VA 23602). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
