The passing of Deandre Wimley Jr. (Newport News, Virginia) leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on October 12, 2025 at the age of 18. He was predeceased by: his great-grandparent Eula Mae Swittenberg (Polly); his uncle Jerrail Spruill; and his grandmother Sheri Felicia Gayle. He is survived by: his parents, Deandre Wimley (Cherrell Holder) and Taneisha Patrice Gayles; his siblings, Nevaeh Wimley, Aviyon Wimley and Nova Giselle Brown; his grandparents, Rufus, Leasa Swittenberg and Thomas Spruill (Trice Spruill); his great-grandparents, Dorothy Holliday and Sheraline Gayle; his aunts, DeStanye Swittenberg, Thomeisha Spruill and Janna Watson; his brother-in-law Julian Brown; and his godmother Temple Moore.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Gethsemane Baptist Church (5405 Roanoke Ave, Newport News, VA 23607).

He also dedicated his time to Riverside Health System, the VA Medical Center, Family Behavioral Health and Healing, the Aberdeen Association, the Hampton Delta Foundation, and local political campaigns.
