With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Geneva Hopkins Hunt (Newport News, Virginia), born in Four Oaks, North Carolina, who passed away on July 24, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Val Hopkins Sr.. She is survived by: her significant other Louis H. Hunt, Jr.; her siblings, Jean Harrell and Val Hopkins, Jr. (Sally); her children, Ben Hunt (Susan), Robert Hunt, Anne Hunt Granger (Doug) and Amy Hunt Shaifer (Peter); her grandchildren, Lauren Hunt Fournier (Brian), Scott Granger (Peter Brannigan), Jesse Granger Izquierdo (Julian), Gordon Granger, Ben Granger (Elizabeth), Daniel Shaifer, Drew Shaifer and Jacob Shaifer; and her great grandchildren, Harper, Turner Fournier and Julia Izquierdo.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A graveside service was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Peninsula Memorial Park (12750 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA 23606).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Liberty Baptist Church, Lanexa and Grace Baptist Church, Williamsburg.
